Out on North Carolina’s coastal shores lies Belle, marooned years ago and left to the elements. I had read an obscure mention of the stranding online and decided I had to see it for myself. Spending countless hours poring over satellite images of the coast trying to pinpoint it’s exact location, I was so happy when I found it! Luckily, it aligned perfectly with the direction of the spiral arm of the Milky Way galaxy in order to make this composition possible.
I feel a strange sense of respect for Belle in her last resting place under the starry skies. And while the harsh elements of the coast have taken their toll on her in her final chapter, to me, she still exudes character.
